The Deichtorhallen Hamburg are dedicated to contemporary art and photography. With its three venues—the Halle für aktuelle Kunst, the Haus der Photographie, and the Sammlung Falckenberg—it is one of the largest exhibition venues of its kind in Europe.
The Deichtorhallen regularly serve as publishers or co-publishers of catalogs for the exhibitions of the Photography Triennial. For the 9th Hamburg Photography Triennial in 2026, titled “Alliance, Infinity, Love – in the Face of the Other,” the Deichtorhallen are publishing a box set that brings together twelve publications from Hamburg institutions and museums.
Martina della Valle creates images, situations, and photographs. Much like a darkroom, her artistic research is grounded in photographic techniques. In her work, she employs various media, which she combines with collaborative working methods to produce site-specific installations and printed works.
Marion Digel is an industrial designer and professor of Fundamentals of Industrial Design and Basic Design at the Folkwang University of the Arts. She studied at the University of Connecticut, earned her degree in industrial design from the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), and ran her design studio, designmariondigel, in Nuremberg and later in Cologne (1992–2006). At the Folkwang University of the Arts, she was head of the Department of Industrial Design from 2007 to 2012 and dean of the Faculty of Design from 2013 to 2019. Marion Digel was a co-founder of the graduate program “Heterotopia”, where she led the Studio for Spatial Relations.
Markus Dorfmüller is a photographer specializing in architectural and urban photography. He lives and works in Hamburg.
