Hendrikje Alpermann studied ethnology in Leipzig, Halle (Saale), and Tbilisi, as well as sociocultural studies at the European University Viadrina and the École d’Urbanisme de Paris. Her research focuses on everyday urban life and the interplay between architecture, urban planning, and society. She served as a research assistant at the Leibniz Institute for Spatial Social Research and the Institute of Geography and Sustainability at the University of Lausanne, as well as in the university administration at the European University Viadrina. She initiated and directed the transdisciplinary festival “wohn_komplex” to mark the 60th anniversary of Halle-Neustadt (together with Sabine Strobler and Karoline Stegemann).
