Peripherie und Ungleichzeitigkeit

At first glance, it may seem far-fetched to draw a comparison between the writer and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini, the philosopher and spatial theorist Henri Lefebvre, and the director and satirist Jacques Tati. 
On closer inspection, however, a number of shared concerns and thematic convergences emerge among these three intellectuals.
At their core, they are engaged in a fundamental critique of (Fordist) postwar modernity. In this context, the phenomena of the periphery and non-synchronicity play an important role. Pasolini, Lefebvre, and Tati address the obscure and the marginal not only from the perspective of oppression and discrimination, but also in terms of their subversive potential.
