He also praised the unusual perspective that comes through on several levels of the book. The methodology is based, among other things, on Alpermann’s field research at the urban planning office in Halle-Neustadt. Not only did archival materials from there find their way into the book, but also conversations with employees that offer insight into a workday that often feels more like patching things up than shaping urban space.”
